Y2Mate was an online video and audio conversion service that let users paste a YouTube link and save content in formats such as MP4 video or MP3 audio. Its browser-based workflow and free access made it a widely searched option for people seeking offline copies of clips and music. The service was commonly associated with terms such as YouTube downloader, YouTube converter, and YouTube to MP3.

According to information presented on its site, coordinated enforcement actions in 2025 led to Y2Mate’s shutdown and the transfer of key domains to rights-holders. The site warns that remaining versions may be clones or look-alikes, and highlights security concerns linked to aggressive advertising, redirects, notification spam, and potentially unwanted software. It also notes that third-party downloading can violate YouTube’s terms and copyright rules unless permission or an official download option applies.

For legitimate offline access, the site recommends YouTube Premium’s in-app downloads, YouTube Studio for creators’ own uploads, and properly licensed Creative Commons or public-domain material.
