About Yabal
Y'abal is a Fair Trade brand that aims to empower indigenous women's weaving cooperatives in Guatemala. As members of both the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) and the Fair Trade Federation (FTF), Y'abal is dedicated to sustainable fashion and preserving the traditional art of back-strap weaving. Their hand-woven products, which blend contemporary designs with indigenous cultural symbols and techniques, create modern sustainable fashion while honoring centuries-old traditions.
By following Fair Trade principles, Y'abal ensures that artisans earn a livable wage. The proceeds from their product sales fund important social programs, including workshops focused on entrepreneurship, business administration, leadership, and advanced sewing courses. Additionally, Y'abal provides educational scholarships, micro-loans, maternity leave, and food security programs to support the artisans and their families.
With your purchase of a Y'abal hand-woven product, you directly contribute to the economic self-sufficiency of the women they work with and support fair trade workshops and social programs in their communities. Visit their shop to discover their beautiful and meaningful products
