HBO Max, a popular streaming service, has recently faced significant backlash following the release of a trailer for an upcoming documentary. The documentary, titled "Savior Complex," explores the disturbing story of Renee Bach, a white American woman who misrepresented herself as a medical professional in Uganda. Bach set up a charity called Serving His Children in 2010, claiming to help malnourished children.
However, during her time in Uganda, 105 children reportedly died under her care, leading to a lawsuit against her. The three-part HBO documentary delves into the controversy surrounding Bach's actions and the consequences of her misguided intentions. The film raises important questions about the limits of good intentions and the potential harm caused by those who assume the role of a savior without proper qualifications.
Despite the controversy, the documentary aims to shed light on the dark side of missionary work and its impact on vulnerable communities
