About 法相宗大本山 薬師寺
Yakushiji Temple, located in Nara and dedicated to the Yakushi Trinity, offers a rich history of its architecture, statues, and founding. Established in 680 by Emperor Tenmu to pray for the recovery of Empress Jito, the temple has a deep-rooted past that intertwines with the imperial family. Despite facing natural disasters and wars that led to the loss of many halls and towers, the temple underwent a remarkable reconstruction effort in 1968.
Led by head priest Takata, the restoration project symbolized a spiritual renaissance amidst material prosperity. Through an initiative to transcribe sutras, the iconic Golden Hall was rebuilt, embodying a fusion of ancient prayers from the Asuka period and modern faith from the Heisei and Reiwa eras. Visit Yakushiji Temple, a sacred site for over 1300 years, to experience the rejuvenating aura and immerse yourself in the spiritual legacy of ancient Nara
