YBBA

Yordan’s Black Belt Academy (YBBA) is a Taekwondo school serving northern Vermont, with locations in Jericho and South Burlington. Led by Grand Master Leonard Yordan, an eighth-degree black belt who has studied and taught Taekwondo in Vermont for 43 years, the academy combines traditional martial arts with contemporary training methods. Classes are open to students ages seven and up, and private instruction is available.

YBBA’s training aims to build confidence, strength, integrity, self-control, and a positive self-image. The academy also emphasizes transferable life skills, family connection, and community, guided by the principle of personal growth rather than competition with others. Its programs include regular Taekwondo classes, school physical education programs, artist-in-residency programs, and corporate wellness offerings. Students can access resources such as class schedules, testing information, patterns and definitions, goal sheets, and gear ordering. YBBA also hosts events, including the annual Yordan’s Invitational Championships, and provides summer camp opportunities. The school highlights its student-to-teacher ratio and family atmosphere, and has been recognized in Seven Days’ Best of Vermont awards.
