Yacht Club Italiano is a historic sailing club founded in Genoa in 1879 and recognised as Italy’s oldest yacht club. With more than 1,000 members, it promotes sailing and brings together a community connected by sport and respect for the sea. The Club is based at the Porticciolo Duca degli Abruzzi in Genoa and also has a summer base in Portofino.
Its year-round sporting programme spans dinghies, Olympic classes, vintage boats and modern maxi yachts. The Club organises national and international regattas, including the Loro Piana Giraglia, Millevele IREN and Regate di Primavera in Portofino, alongside competitions for classes such as Optimist, 420, J/70 and Wing Foil.
Through the Beppe Croce Sea School, a CONI- and FIV-recognised sports education centre, it offers sailing courses for children aged six and older, teenagers and adults. Lessons cover a range of boats and boards, with both group courses and tailored individual programmes available throughout the year. Its youth racing squad also trains and competes nationally and internationally.
