The A. I. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (AANL), also known as the Yerevan Physics Institute, is a leading Armenian research center for fundamental and applied science. Founded in 1943 by physicists Abraham and Artem Alikhanyan, the institute has a long history in cosmic-ray and particle physics. Today, it brings together experienced scientists, early-career researchers, and technical staff to pursue competitive research and contribute to international scientific programs. AANL collaborates with research institutions in more than 50 countries and participates in major international projects.

Its eight scientific divisions cover experimental and theoretical physics, quantum technologies, applied physics, cosmic rays, cosmology and astrophysics, isotope research and production, and computational physics and information technology. The laboratory also develops scientific equipment and detectors, builds research capacity through training and international exchange, and supports the scientific community with conferences, seminars, visits, equipment access, a digital library, and grid certificate services. With roots in Armenia’s first particle accelerator and a record of international collaboration, AANL continues to advance research across physics and related technologies.
