YES Programs

The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study (YES) Program is a renowned brand that offers scholarships for secondary school students from countries with significant Muslim populations. Their aim is to provide these students with the opportunity to spend up to one academic year in the United States, promoting mutual understanding and forming lasting relationships. In addition, U.S. citizens attending high school also have the chance to spend up to one academic year in select countries.

As part of the program, YES students serve as "youth ambassadors" of their home country, living with a host family, attending an American high school, and acquiring leadership skills. They engage in various activities to learn about U.S. society and values, while educating Americans about their own home country and culture. To secure a YES scholarship, applicants go through a rigorous and merit-based selection process.

Established in response to the events of September 11, 2001, the YES program has been making a significant impact since 2002. Additionally, the YES Abroad program was created in 2009 to offer a similar experience to U.S. students. Currently, the program accepts students from numerous countries, including Albania, Egypt, Nigeria, and Pakistan, among others.
