Ylikylän Erä

Ylikylän Erä ry is a hunting association based in Nurmes, North Karelia, Finland, founded in 1958. With a history rooted in hunting, wildlife management and community life, the association has grown from 39 founding-year members to 222 members, including 22 women. Its activities include moose, bear and small-game hunting, alongside wildlife monitoring, predator control and other game-management efforts. The association also supports hunting-dog activities, including trials and exhibitions, and has a tradition of participation in shooting competitions.

Members and visitors can find information through the association’s website about its activities, administration, membership and hunting opportunities. The site also provides a membership application and visitor permit card, as well as an online shop. Ylikylän Erä ry’s hunting lodge, built in 1987 by Hoikkalampi, is actively used by the association and rented to non-members. Regular events, meetings and gatherings bring members together and help sustain the association’s long-standing role in local hunting and community life.
