About The Y Central South Island NZ
YMCA South and Mid Canterbury | Timaru has been making positive impacts on the region's youth since 1917. Their evidence-based programmes and services are aimed at nurturing the potential of young people in the community and in schools. They offer a variety of youth development initiatives, including the Resiliency Toolkit programme delivered in schools from years 7 to 13.
Additionally, they provide the Raise Up youth development programme, Rainbow Education 101 programme, and Rainbow support groups for both rangatahi and their whānau. The brand also offers a Transition and Community Youth mentoring programme, Y•Futures youth development and support-to-employment programme, and an annual V. O.
I. C. E Youth Art Project & Exhibition.
For those who are not in employment, education, or training, they have the NEET Service. Other services include PARS (Play, Active Recreation & Sport) programmes, Y•Whānau parenting courses, and Let's Talk about Sex safe relationships courses for parents and caregivers. In addition to their youth development focus, they support education, training, and employment pathways through various programmes, such as Y•Drive Driving School and Drive2Work support-to-employment programme.
By supporting the Y, individuals contribute to the local community and help provide meaningful opportunities for tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau
