York Shotokan Mixed Martial Arts is a not-for-profit martial arts school in York, Pennsylvania, focused on leadership, tradition, discipline, and personal growth. Founded before 1960, it is described as one of Pennsylvania’s oldest martial arts schools. Led by Sensei Master Tony Abel, the school offers instruction rooted in traditional Shotokan karate and enriched with techniques from other disciplines to teach practical self-defense.
Programs include karate classes for children ages 5 to 8, as well as adult training in broader self-defense disciplines such as Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The school aims to help students build strength, stamina, fitness, confidence, and peace of mind while developing responsible character. Its black belt instructors each have at least 10 years of martial arts experience, and the instructional staff brings more than 150 years of combined experience.
Classes are held Monday and Wednesday evenings, with additional Saturday morning sessions. York Shotokan Mixed Martial Arts is located at 3195 E Prospect Road, York, PA, and welcomes inquiries about upcoming classes.
