Young Champs is a UK registered charity working to make tennis more inclusive and accessible for children, regardless of their background. Its programme offers free and heavily discounted tennis, with sessions for children aged 5–11 and free or £2 opportunities promoted for young people aged 5–16. No previous experience or equipment is needed; children can simply turn up and play. Sessions are designed to help young people get active and build confidence, and are led by qualified, friendly LTA coaches.
Young Champs works with tennis clubs and coaches across the country to create affordable opportunities. It asks partners to provide at least two hours of coaching each week at £2 per hour or less, through existing programmes or new sessions, and also encourages clubs to offer free court time to aspiring junior players. The charity aims to unlock 10,000 hours of affordable court time annually. Participating venues and volunteers must meet stated quality and safeguarding standards, including LTA registration, insurance and DBS checks.
