The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme offers young Australians aged 16 to 23 an 11-day sail training voyage aboard STS Young Endeavour, a square-rigged tall ship built for sail training. Participants join 23 other young people from across the country to explore the Australian coast, including areas within national and marine parks. No sailing experience is needed: specially trained Royal Australian Navy staff teach the youth crew how to sail the ship and help them take on practical challenges, from setting and furling sails to climbing the 30-metre mast.
The program is designed to build confidence and develop leadership, communication, teamwork and other life skills through shared adventure at sea. Voyages may also include swimming and opportunities to spot marine wildlife. The scheme provides information for applicants, parents, guardians, schools and community organisations, with details on voyage dates, pricing, applications and youth safety.
A limited number of financially assisted berths are available each year for eligible participants
