Reportnet is a vital component of the European Environment Information and Observation Network (Eionet), established to enhance data and information flows related to environmental reporting. Launched in 2000 and operational since 2002, Reportnet has evolved to support not only the European Environment Agency (EEA) but also various other national and international organizations.

This open and integrated platform features a suite of interconnected tools and services designed to streamline the reporting of environmental data. Key components include the Central Data Repository (CDR), which guides users through the reporting workflow; the Reporting Obligations Database (ROD), detailing reporting requirements for member countries; and the Data Dictionary, which stores essential data specifications for reporting obligations.

With the initiation of the Reportnet 3.0 project in 2018, the system is modernizing its eReporting capabilities by incorporating the latest IT solutions, ensuring efficient and transparent environmental data management. Reportnet ultimately serves as a crucial infrastructure promoting sustainability and accountability in environmental governance across Europe.
