The Young Zoologists’ Association of Sri Lanka (YZA) is a non-governmental, non-profit, voluntary youth organization based at the National Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala, Sri Lanka. Our main purpose is to protect and conserve the environment by educating the community. Through awareness programs, we aim to promote conservation for nature and wildlife.

Founded in 1972 by Mr. Lyn De Alwis, a renowned academic and nature lover, YZA has become the first institution for many leading environmentalists and naturalists in the country. Our close relationship with the Zoo Management allows us to study animals and their behaviors closely.

YZA organizes various events such as general lectures, workshops, and exhibitions to raise awareness about the importance of nature. We also publish publications, including the international journal "Sri Lanka Naturalist," in both Sinhala and English.

We offer educational programs every Sunday, covering topics such as aquatic life, birds, flora, mammals, reptiles, and more. Members also have the opportunity to participate in supplementary classes on wildlife photography and art.
