About Zagreb Meeting
Boris Hanžeković Memorial is the oldest sports event in Croatia, held continuously since 1951. What started as a club rivalry between Mladost and Dinamo has grown into one of the world's best athletics meetings. The memorial race on the 110-meter hurdles, named after Boris Hanžeković, the best pre-war Croatian athlete who tragically perished in Jasenovac, gave the event its name.
Over the years, the memorial race has seen seven Olympic champions and ten world champions emerge victorious. In recent years, the memorial has expanded into a three-day event, featuring unique locations such as Ban Josip Jelačić Square and the City Fountains, in addition to the Mladost Stadium. Attracting top athletes from around the globe, the Boris Hanžeković Memorial has hosted legends like Valerij Brumelj, Irena Szewinska, Alberto Juantorena, and Mike Boit.
Today, it is part of the prestigious Continental Tour Gold series and showcases record-breaking performances by athletes like Blanka Vlašić, Usain Bolt, and Sandra Perković. Welcome to the Boris Hanžeković Memorial!
