Zappas

Zappas is a Czech sports-support organization dedicated to promoting less widely represented sports and a healthy lifestyle. Named after Evangelos Zappas, the 19th-century philanthropist associated with reviving the Olympic Games, the organization carries forward a focus on sport and community initiatives. Its work includes supporting projects in sailing, triathlon, running, golf and other sports, with particular visibility for sailing and youth competition.

Zappas supports the Zappas Sailing Team and clubs such as YC DIM Bezdrev, helping bring attention to athletes, events and sporting achievements. Recent news highlights the team’s national championship success in the Pirát sailing class and Czech sailors’ performance at the Flying Dutchman World Championship. The organization also reports on events such as the Zmrzlinový pohár at Bezdrev, which included a regional championship for young Optimist sailors.

Through its sports projects and support, Zappas helps encourage participation, competition and active living. Its website shares project updates, news and information about ways to support its activities.
