About Zawadi Africa
Zawadi Africa is a remarkable brand dedicated to empowering African women through education and self-determination. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Susan Mboya, Zawadi Africa Education Fund is a leadership development program that provides university scholarships, leadership training, and life skills development to academically gifted but financially disadvantaged African girls.
The aim is to create a pipeline of young African women leaders who can make a significant positive impact in their communities. Inspired by the highly successful Kennedy-Mboya Africa Student Airlifts Program of the 1960s, Zawadi Africa believes that with a world-class education and character development, these young women can become powerful voices for change. The brand operates under a vision to empower African women to participate in the continent's development, and their mission is to shape the future through quality education and the empowerment of African women to become global leaders.
With a strong focus on leadership, self-determination, responsibility, and giving back, Zawadi Africa fosters a family-like environment that supports and empowers its students. They work closely with various school partners and rely on the support of generous donors and volunteers to continue their vital work. Through their dedication and commitment, Zawadi Africa is making a real difference in the lives of African girls and communities, creating a brighter future for all
