About Zé dos Bois
Galeria Zé dos Bois (ZDB) is a non-profit cultural association founded in 1994. Located in the heart of Bairro Alto, Lisbon, in the former Palácio Baronesa de Almeida, ZDB is a 2500 m2 center for contemporary art, focusing on visual arts, performing arts, music, and image. Every year, ZDB produces exhibitions and hosts or co-produces over 150 other artistic projects, including residencies, educational activities, theater performances, dance, and music, offering a diverse and eclectic program.
The gallery has collaborated with renowned artists such as João Maria Gusmão & Pedro Paiva, Thurston Moore, Keiji Haino, and Animal Collective, among others. ZDB is dedicated to fostering artistic creation and production, offering international and national residencies and establishing long-term professional relationships to produce unique projects. ZDB also has a strong focus on arts education, offering guided visits, training programs, and co-productions to build a long-lasting connection with the community
