Zoi is an offline-first crypto network developed by Zoi Labs LLC, designed to keep digital transfers moving when internet access is unavailable. Its app lets nearby phones communicate directly over Bluetooth mesh, passing digitally signed bearer notes from device to device. When a connected device eventually gets online, the transfer can be settled on-chain. The network is intended for situations such as crowded events, blackouts, and disaster zones, where conventional connectivity may be unreliable.
Zoi offers a free mobile app for iOS and Android, with an APK available for Android users who cannot use Google Play. Users can sync with the network and earn ZOI by participating and inviting friends; the company says phones may later earn by relaying transfers. Offline payments are being introduced in phases, and the protocol remains in active development. Zoi describes its approach as non-custodial and censorship-resistant, with transfers signed by users’ wallets and mechanisms to detect attempted double spending.
