Zot Registry is an open-source, OCI-native container image registry project designed to make storing and distributing container images simpler. It strongly conforms to the OCI Distribution and Image specifications and is available as a single statically built binary, with no additional dependencies or services required. Zot can run without elevated host privileges and supports platforms including Linux, macOS, Intel and Arm systems, Raspberry Pi, cloud environments, and bare metal.
The project offers Full and Minimal builds, allowing users to choose between a version with all features or one stripped down for security. Its included capabilities cover security scanning, authentication, authorization, garbage collection, and deduplication. Users can manage image content through command-line tools, a web interface, and APIs, and can deploy Zot on bare-metal Linux or with Kubernetes and Helm. Documentation also covers mirroring, clustering, monitoring, retention policies, signatures, and software provenance. Zot is a CNCF Sandbox project and is released under the Apache 2.0 license. It can also be paired with the OCI-native image builder Stacker and other ecosystem tools.
