Zespół Szkół Muzycznych I i II stopnia w Rudzie Śląskiej is the only artistic school in the city, comprising the State Music Primary School named after Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki in Rudna Śląska and the Municipal Music Secondary School in Rudna Śląska. The State Music Primary School was established on July 26, 1971. From the beginning, the school offered a six-year and four-year education cycle.

Zbigniew Lipski served as the first director of the State Music Primary School from 1971 to 1977, followed by Zbigniew Wojciechowski until 1983.
