About ZUJ
The Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) is one of the oldest unions in Southern Africa, providing a united voice for journalists. With over 35 years of experience, ZUJ is committed to upholding professionalism, labor rights, and press freedom. ZUJ represents its members in their pursuit of freedom of expression within the ethical boundaries of journalism.
The union promotes and reflects media diversity and professional standards while fighting for good working conditions and mediating in labor disputes. In addition to advocacy and lobbying efforts, ZUJ offers training programs to build the professional capacity of its members. They focus on mainstreaming gender policies, addressing employment challenges faced by journalists with disabilities, and supporting journalists in areas such as poverty, health, ICTs, and electoral and governance issues.
ZUJ also hosts the National Journalism and Media Awards (Njama), recognizing excellent journalism and promoting healthy competition among journalists. By joining ZUJ, journalists can contribute to the advancement of journalism as a public service and a democratic institution. Be a part of a community that cares about you and your work - join ZUJ today!
