Żywica

Żywica is a community-focused association based in Oborniki Śląskie, Poland, working to protect trees and nature, particularly within its local municipality. Its mission combines practical conservation, public education and community engagement. The association values mature and long-established trees as important parts of the urban and natural landscape.

Żywica works to safeguard trees in towns through educational initiatives, monitoring investment projects, and cooperating with designers and contractors. It also supports the care of new plantings and advocates for valuable forests and natural habitats, including by participating in forest management planning to help conserve old trees and forest areas.

The association shares its expertise through training sessions, nature walks, lectures and meetings with specialists. Its projects address urban greenery, trees designated as natural monuments, forests and biodiversity. Żywica also brings people together through its festival, featuring activities such as children’s workshops, expert talks and music. In partnership with Kino Astra, it organizes free monthly documentary screenings followed by discussions on environmental topics and the association’s ongoing work.
