Stiftung Planetarium Berlin is a public-law foundation established on 1 July 2016 to bring the city’s astronomical institutions together under one organization. It operates the Zeiss-Großplanetarium, Archenhold Observatory, Wilhelm-Foerster Observatory and Planetarium am Insulaner, combining historic public observatories with modern planetariums and science theatres. The foundation makes astronomy accessible through a varied programme of events and educational experiences for visitors of all ages.
Offerings include live-presented planetarium shows, full-dome productions, telescope observations, lectures, concerts, film screenings, readings, workshops and activities for children, families and school groups. Its programmes also explore subjects beyond astronomy, connecting science with culture and other fields. Visitors can discover the universe through immersive experiences, including productions featuring imagery from the James Webb and Hubble space telescopes, or take part in observations at the observatories.
