Reality Hack is a nonprofit organization focused on educating, empowering, and connecting people in experiential technology. Its flagship annual event, held at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, brings together participants from around the world, including engineers, designers, artists, students, entrepreneurs, and domain experts. Working in diverse teams, they develop software and hardware prototypes for extended reality (XR) devices and platforms, often exploring applications of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
Reality Hack’s events combine hands-on creation with learning and community building. Participants can take part in technology workshops and presentations, hear discussions and fireside chats, collaborate with mentors and peers, and showcase projects. The organization also hosts multiple XR and AI hackathons, including events associated with the AWE conference, and supports startup-related programming through initiatives such as demo days and founders’ activities. Its website provides event schedules, project galleries, competition details, resources, and updates for participants and sponsors. Co-hosted with the MIT student group VR/AR@MIT and supported by community volunteers, Reality Hack aims to make experiential technology more accessible while encouraging creative, sustainable, and equitable innovation.
